With a strong sense of poetry, Kasper De Vos creates sculptures and installations. From hamburgers to walnuts, from apples to eggs and dry leaves: in a play of materials, scale, and presentation, he transforms everyday images into oversized yet elegant, humorous artworks. A great curiosity about materials is expressed in his use of concrete, wax, wood, or textiles in combination with found objects. De Vos sculpts, casts, processes, and demonstrates skill in integrating his work into a specific architectural or landscape context.

Just past the Roger Raveel Square in Machelen-aan-de-Leie, there is a large in situ work by Raveel, The Wall of Imagination. In a forty-meter-long concrete structure, all elements from Raveel's work are encapsulated, including white squares, mirrors, and poles. Between the concrete walls, some corners feature knot willows in concrete. For the 9th Biennale of Painting, De Vos decided to intervene in the garden of the old rectory, next to the inner courtyard of the museum. Here, four knot willows have stood for many decades next to one of the oldest walls in the village. De Vos was inspired by Raveel's sculptural integration in the village to create his own version of a concrete knot willow. To do this, he pruned the willows in the garden, weaving the branches into the shape of the tree according to the ancient tradition of basket weaving. From beneath this woven mold, the concrete tree emerged. The sculpture not only serves as a nod to Raveel's work and the village but also pays tribute to this special tree species, which has long been used to reinforce ditches and banks. They are typically placed in a characteristic row in the landscape. The knot willow is also a beloved refuge for insects and birds.

In the museum, under the title Seasonal Labor, several bundles of asparagus cut from the branches of these willows are also on display.

Met veel gevoel voor poëzie creëert Kasper De Vos sculpturen en installaties. Van hamburgers tot walnoten, van appels
tot eieren en dorre bladeren: in een spel van materialen, schaal en presentatie transformeert hij alledaagse beelden tot uit de kluiten gewassen en toch elegante, humoristische kunstwerken. Een grote nieuwsgierigheid naar materialen uit zich in het gebruik van beton, was, hout
of textiel in combinatie met gevonden voorwerpen. De Vos boetseert, giet af, bewerkt en toont zich bekwaam in de integratie van zijn werk in een specifieke architecturale of landschappelijke context.

Net voorbij het Roger Raveelplein bevindt zich in Machelen-aan-de-Leie een groot in situ werk van Raveel, De Muur van de Verbeelding. In een veertig meter lange betonconstructie zitten alle elementen
uit Raveels werk vervat, inclusief witte vierkanten, spiegels en palen. Tussen de betonnen muren prijken op enkele hoeken knotwilgen in beton. Voor de 9e Biënnale van de Schilderkunst besloot De Vos een ingreep te doen in de tuin van de oude pastoriewoning, naast de binnenkoer van het museum. Hier staan al vele decennia vier knotwilgen naast een van de oudste muren van het dorp. De Vos liet zich door Raveels sculpturale integratie in het dorp inspireren om zijn eigen versie van een betonnen knotwilg te maken. Hiervoor snoeide hij de wilgen in de tuin waarna
hij met de takken de vorm van de boom in elkaar vlocht volgens de aloude traditie van het mandenvlechten. Van onder deze geweven mal kwam de betonnen boom tevoorschijn. De sculptuur vormt niet enkel een knipoog naar het werk en het dorp van Raveel maar is ook een eerbetoon aan deze bijzondere boomsoort die sinds lange tijd gebruikt wordt om sloten en oevers
te verstevigen. Ze worden doorgaans in een karakteristieke rij in het landschap geplaatst. De knotwilg is ook een geliefde schuilplaats voor insecten en vogels.

In het museum prijken, onder de titel Seizoensarbeid, eveneens enkele bundels asperges gesneden uit de takken van deze wilgen.
